Supporting you to support your kids.

Parenting after Separation is a FREE group workshop for separated parents and carers looking for ways to best support themselves and their children through the process of family separation.

 

These workshops are only available for those living in Central Australia, up to and including Katherine.

There are two workshop options available

  • In-person workshops which take place at the Relationships Australia - Northern Territory, Alice Springs office, OR
  • An online workshop via Zoom

 

What to expect

A supportive environment providing practical tools for caring for yourself and communicating with your children and former partner.

 

IMPORTANT

  • Parents and carers attend separately from their former partner. A friendly phone call will be made before the session to help us understand your needs.

Finding Your Feet After Separation

Thursday 13 August, 5pm - 7.30pm

Caring for yourself and your children 

  • The emotional impact of separation on you 
  • Looking after yourself while parenting through change
  • How separation can affect kid's feelings and behaviours

  

Helping Kids Feel Safe and Secure

Thursday 27 August, 5pm - 7.30pm

Supporting children’s emotional wellbeing during separation and beyond

  • How to talk to kids about separation
  • Helping kids manage big feelings
  • Building safety and security through everyday moments
  • Protecting kids from adult problems

 

Communicating After Separation

Thursday 10 September, 5pm - 7.30pm

Strategies for calmer communication and reducing conflict with a co-parent/carer

  • Ways to keep communication clear and calm
  • Setting healthy boundaries
  • Keeping the focus on the kids

 

The sessions are not sequential. You can choose to attend any or all sessions.
