At the heart of our support services for children and families is our specialist space, Sunny’s Nest, located at 82 Woods Street, Darwin.

At Sunny’s Nest a range of programs and services are available for children, young people and their families. These programs and services are facilitated by children’s counsellors trained in providing one-on-one therapeutic support to children and young people, family counselling, parent/caregiver consultations and group-based work with children, young people and parents.

At Sunny’s Nest we have four specialised rooms:

Pitta Room – children 0-8 years-old

Named after the Rainbow Pitta, a small, brightly coloured Northern Territory bird, this room is designed with play and imagination at its heart. Counsellors guide therapeutic activities using play, sand and creative interventions to support children’s wellbeing and expression.

Kooki Room – children 9-12 years-old

Named after the kookaburra’s playful nickname, this room invites children and young people to explore arts and crafts in a fun and creative way, while counsellors guide therapeutic activities that support expression, emotional wellbeing and personal growth.

Brolga Room – young people 12 years and above

Named after the Brolga, a large and elegant crane celebrated for its graceful dances, this room has been thoughtfully designed for older children and teenagers, creating a welcoming and inspiring space where counsellors guide therapeutic activities to support growth and wellbeing.

Kite Room – family, parent/s, caregiver/s

Named after the Black Kite, a bird native to the Northern Territory, this space draws inspiration from their habit of soaring together in wide, drifting circles. This room has been thoughtfully designed as a welcoming space for families, supporting parent and caregiver consultations, meetings and family counselling sessions - a place for everyone to come together in support of a child or young person’s wellbeing and therapeutic growth.

Sunny’s Nest is a warm and supportive environment where children and young people feel heard, valued and empowered.
