Individual counselling is an opportunity for you to explore any problems or stressors in your life.
Before your counselling session
Prior to your initial counselling session, you will be taken through a short phone consultation. During this call, you’ll talk about:
- why you want to attend counselling,
- concerns you have about counselling,
- personal safety,
- who your counsellor will be.
Counselling Sessions
Sessions will usually go for one hour and can be via phone, video call, or in person.
You are encouraged to explore your feelings and emotions in a safe place where problems and issues can be understood. Counselling can help you gain clarity, exploring a wide range of possibilities, options and the possible consequences of actions. People report feeling supported, acknowledged, respected and valued throughout the counselling process.
Privacy and Confidentiality
Counselling is confidential. This means that everything you discuss with the counsellor is private, between you and the counsellor. A counsellor may have to report something that threatens your safety or the safety of others.
