Relationships Australia NT appoints new Chief Executive Officer

Doug Gillanders, Chair Relationships Australia NT is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Michael Meegan to the role of Chief Executive Officer of the community service organisation.

Mr Meegan will join Relationships Australia NT in late October following the retirement of outgoing CEO Marie Morrison.

 

“I am looking forward to welcoming Michael to the team, with over 20 years’ experience in the not-for-profit sector, I am confident that his skills and experience will enhance our service delivery and provide leadership in the community services sector.”

 

Mr Meegan was most recently engaged as the Executive Manager and CEO of Indigenous organisations in urban and remote areas of Western Australia. Initially trained as a lawyer, he has employed these and other skills into the area of social justice. Michael has experience in private practice, mediation, conflict resolution, legal aid and working with Aboriginal people in native title. He has moved throughout regional Western Australia, planning projects and solving complex litigation matters and has worked closely with Aboriginal staff, clients and colleagues throughout his career.

“I would also like to acknowledge the significant contribution Marie Morrison has made to our organisation. Over the past 12 years Marie has strengthened our position within the Territory with consistent growth as we have developed into a thriving and well-respected organisation,” Mr Gillanders added.

“As we embark on the next chapter in our development within a changing socio-economic environment, Relationships Australia remains committed to offering a diverse range of programs and initiatives catered to our community’s needs. Be that strengthening families or supporting people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, or assisting vulnerable community groups facing sensitive situations such as the Royal Commission.”

Our new CEO is supported by a team of more than 70 committed staff across three locations in the Northern Territory. Following a national search, Mr Meegan presents as an exceptional leader who will manage the organisation within the political, social, economic, and environmental context in which we operate.  We look forward to his strong business acumen and quality client services.
