New counsellor joins our team in Katherine
We’re pleased to announce a new counsellor to bolster the services we offer in Katherine.
Deanna, who recently moved to Katherine with her partner who is stationed at RAAF Base Tindal, brings with her a wealth of experience in dealing with defence life as well as Educational Developmental Psychology.
Her new role will include counselling couples, families and individuals.
“I hope that my broad experience from both a defence and developmental perspective will help to understand our clients’ situations and offer appropriate support.
“Being part of a defence family I certainly understand some of the challenges families in this situation face but I also appreciate that every individual is different and that we shouldn’t make any assumptions. I am looking forward to meeting and working with the whole community of Katherine and building an understanding of their needs,” she said.
Chief Executive Officer Marie Morrison has welcomed Deanna to the team, excited about the skills and knowledge she brings to the role.
“We are very fortunate to have been able to recruit someone with Deanna’s skills and experience.
“Having an understanding of the issues and challenges families and individuals face in the Territory’s regional centres is often a key to providing appropriate support. People want to be able to talk to someone who understands their situation and the resources that are available to them,” Ms Morrison said.
Deanna will be available from the Relationships Australia offices in Katherine Wednesdays to Fridays and will divide her time across a number of programs including Family Relationship Counselling, defence clients through our Open Arms services, National Redress Scheme support and our Employee Assistance Program available to Northern Territory Government staff who may be experiencing stress or anxiety due to challenges they are facing in their personal or work life.
