Specialist Support Services
We offer specialised support services in various areas, including elder abuse, Royal Commissions and forced adoption.
The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability started in April 2019. The Royal Commission will inquire into instances of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation of people with disability across Australia. We can provide free counselling and support for people impacted by the Royal Commission, including people with a disability, their families, carers or support workers.
Senior Relationship Services supports older people to feel respected and safe by helping older people and their families to:
- Resolve or prevent family conflict in ways that aim to improve relationships
- Have ‘difficult conversations’ and improve communication skills
- Reduce the risk of elder abuse, exploitation or neglect (physical, financial, sexual, psychological or emotional).
Find and Connect Support Services were born out of Kevin Rudd’s 2009 National Apology to Forgotten Australians and Former Child Migrants, on behalf of the Australian Government.
Forced Adoption Support Service can provide information links and referrals to other services and networks. The service is for those who are affected by past forced adoptions policies and practices in Australia between the 1940s and 70s.
